Building work 2024

Thirsk Meeting has embarked on urgent building works which will enable Meeting for Worship and the general life of the Meeting to continue for many years into the future. The building hosts our Meeting and a variety of local groups one of which is Thirsk Together, an ecumenical group supporting an Afghan refugee family.

Membership currently exceeds 30 and, since the pandemic, weekly attendance has gone up to an average of 18.  An extension was added to the Meeting House in the mid-19th century and it is this that needs to be replaced. The cloakroom foundations are subsiding and the cottage, whose rental income we rely on, is damp and desperately needs bringing up to 21st century standards to make it habitable again.

We will add photos of the building work as it progresses and news of the project from time to time.
